Why Remove Roof Moss?
More Than Just Aesthetics

Blocked Gutters – Almost all gutter blockages we see involve moss, which has become dislodged and bungs up the roof guttering.
Soakaways – These are deep holes buried in the garden and they often become blocked with leaves and pine needles, often held together with decaying moss that has washed off the roof.
Drain Unblocking – Drains and underground pipework often become blocked with roof moss and can cost hundreds to flush through.
Rainwater Runoff – Excess roof moss can impede the flow of water off the roof, causing leaks onto the underfelt and roof timbers. We’ve also seen Velux window frames leak due to moss buildup in the drainage channels. Some vent tiles also leak when blocked with moss and roof debris.
Roof Damage – Clay tiles can fail early if they’re covered in moss. Mortar can also crumble if excess moss is on the roof.
Garden Maintenance – Our customers often tell us they are struggling with the sheer amount of moss that is falling off the roof onto their patios, driveways, conservatory roofs etc and they want a longer-term solution.
About Us
Mister Moss is owned by Daniel Weadley who has over 18 years of experience in roofing and roof repairs.
Mister Moss uses traditional methods to remove moss from tiled roofs – scrapers and brushes. We also apply biocide treatments to the tiles to prevent moss regrowth for years to come.
With a long history in roofing, we are also able to carry out repairs such as replacing broken tiles and re-bedding tiles onto new mortar as well as gutter repairs.
What You Can Expect From Us

After a customer contacts us, we arrange a suitable time to visit the property, after which we send a detailed written quote for the work which usually comprises:
- Erect our access equipment which may include towers, ladders, roof ladders, harnesses and long-reach poles.
- We then block the gutter outlets to prevent moss from entering the pipes.
- The moss is then removed using brushes and scrapers only (no pressure washing).
- Any damaged tiles are swapped for new ones.
- The gutters are cleared out.
- We then treat the roof with a biocide that soaks into the tile and overlaps and prevents the moss from growing back for years.
- We unblock the guttering from the pipes and lower the access equipment.
- We remove and dispose of all the waste material.
- If we notice any issues with the roof, we will photograph them and provide the customer with a roof assessment.
